Job Description

We are currently seeking a Safety Technician to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of construction operations. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to establish a career in the safety field. Reporting directly to an experienced Safety Director, the Safety Technician will collaborate with field operations to maintain a secure work environment for Team Members. This position is based in our Plantsville office in Connecticut and requires on-site presence; remote work is not an option.

Qualifications:

OSHA 10-hour construction certificate is mandatory.
Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field is highly preferred.
Experience in heavy civil construction, transportation, or related fields is advantageous.
Knowledge of general construction safety and health regulations, including OSHA.
Familiarity with Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Goal-oriented with the ability to set and achieve objectives.
Interpersonal skills: capable of working effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish, English/Portuguese) is desirable.

Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with and enforcement of all corporate safety policies and procedures.
Support the Safety Department in managing the overall corporate safety program, including coordinating testing, scheduling and tracking training, assisting with reports and project documentation, tracking accident/incident/near miss reports/safety audits, and recordkeeping of associated documents.
Aid projects in work planning and development of job hazard analysis and safe work procedures.
Conduct site safety inspections, accident/incident investigations (including root cause analysis), industrial hygiene assessments, and safety audits on active construction projects.
Prepare and process daily and weekly reports on all safety activities.
Assist with safety orientations and training in small and large group environments.
Undertake additional assignments as required by the Company's needs or as directed.
