A family in Montclair is seeking a temporary, live-out nanny to care for their three-month-old twin girls, with occasional duties involving their three-year-old son. The preferred schedule is Monday through Friday, starting around 8:00 or 8:30 am, with an average duration of seven hours per day, totaling approximately 35 hours per week. The family is somewhat flexible regarding the exact schedule.

Duties include:

Providing daytime care for the twin girls while both parents are at work. Planning age- appropriate activities for neurodevelopment and motor development (the family is currently doing tummy time, eye tracking, reading, singing, etc.) The toddler is enrolled in full-day preschool, and parents will manage drop-off and pickup. Occasionally, care for all three children may be required; however, the primary focus will be on caring for the twins. Household tasks include light food prep for the children, laundry for the children, and maintaining basic cleanliness and organization in the areas designated for the children.

Ideal nanny:

The ideal nanny for this family is patient, engaging, trustworthy, and willing to take the children outside. The family would also welcome a caregiver who balances their own expertise and approaches to childcare with Mom and Dad’s preferences and parenting style.

About the children:

One of the twins has a cheerful, playful, and schedule-oriented temperament and is generally easygoing. The other twin is more snuggly, alert, and responsive during play sessions.

This three-year-old is curious, energetic, playful, detail-oriented, and expressive. He is very affectionate and interactive with the twins, though he may occasionally seek additional attention. He enjoys all types of vehicles and is very active and inquisitive. He has a fondness for playgrounds, sprinklers, sidewalk chalk, and coloring activities. He is beginning to explore sports, with an early interest in soccer. He currently uses a balance bicycle, with plans to introduce a scooter soon. He will also be enrolling in swimming lessons and sports programs.

About the parents/household:

Mom is detail-oriented, organized, and a skilled planner and collaborator. Dad is highly communicative, a perfectionist, calm, playful, and engaged.

Discipline structure for the toddler begins with clearly explaining the rules and expectations. Identifying the unwanted behavior and why it is not permitted or safe comes next. If the child continues to cross boundaries, parents may implement a "sit-and-think" approach, which was effectively utilized by his preschool teacher.
