We are seeking a skilled Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. This office-based role involves preparing accurate takeoffs and estimates for structural steel components using both computer-aided and manual methods. The ideal candidate will have strong industry experience and a comprehensive understanding of steel fabrication, erection, and construction processes. You will be instrumental in developing detailed estimate documentation and evaluating vendor/subcontractor compliance with contract documents.
Perform detailed takeoffs for all types of structural steel components and typical detailing requirements.
Review and interpret contract drawings, specifications, and related structural steel documentation.
Analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes for scope compliance and completeness.
Develop estimate summaries, identifying labor, materials, and special requirements.
Support estimate preparation with complete documentation and clear assumptions.
Assist in training and mentoring Estimators in Training.
Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure alignment on project scopes and requirements.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the structural steel industry in a similar estimating role.
In-depth understanding of the means and methods of steel fabrication and erection.
Proven construction industry experience.
Strong ability to interpret and review contract drawings and specifications related to structural steel.
Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred, not required).
